He was born into a musical family and started his piano education with his mother when he was only three years of age. He went on to study at a school of music in his home town of Chernivtsi in Ukraine and subsequently at the Solomiya Krushelnytska Secondary School of Music in Lviv. He has also completed with distinction the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Poland studying with Jarosław Drzewiecki. Additionally, he has perfected his skills at master classes conducted by such renowned artists as Urszula Bartkiewicz, Irina Rumiancewa, Vera Nosina, Andrzej Jasiński, Borys Bloch, Eugen Indjic, Philippe Giusiano, Dina Yoffe, Kevin Kenner, Akiko Ebi and Lidia Grychtołówna.

Shemchuk has performed in concert in Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Denmark, Italy, Russia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Moldova and Romania with solo, chamber and orchestral repertoires. He has played in a piano duo with Alina Andriuti with considerable success at such competitions as ‘Art Duo’ (First Prize in Copenhagen in 2014 and First Prize in Prague in 2015) and ‘Music Without Limits’ in Druskininkai in 2015 (Grand Prix). The artist has also been a prize winner at the International Piano Forum ‘Bieszczady Without Borders’ in Sanok in 2014 and won first prizes at two other competitions: ’Russian Seasons’ in Yekaterinburg in 2015 and ‘Musica Classica’ in Moscow in 2015.
