Oboist and teacher. Renowned specialist, famous both in his native Ukraine and throughout Europe. He teaches at the State Humanitarian University in Rivne and works as director of the Solomiya Krushelnytska Special School of Music in Lviv. During his 30 years’ teaching career, his students received more than eighty-five prizes at international competitions for wind instrument players. Lev Zakopets’s graduates have become soloists and members of many orchestras from around Europe. The artist summarised his teaching experiences in the publication of Methodical Handbook for Oboe Players.

Lev Zakopets has appeared as a soloist alongside symphony orchestras in Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania and Denmark. He has sat on the juries of Ukrainian and international competitions for wind instrument players and chamber wind ensembles.

In 2011, the President of Ukraine honoured him with the award For the Merit to Ukrainian Music.
