Polish-Canadian pianist and choirmaster. While in Canada, he was in charge of two vocal ensembles – Grandin Singers and Lex Orandi Children's Choir, and was active amongst the Polish diaspora (e.g. conducting the Canadian premiere performance of Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki’s Missa Paschalis). In 2017, he was awarded the Polish Singers Alliance Scholarship by the Leokadia Dombroska Foundation from Pennsylvania for his efforts and achievements in promoting Polish culture. Sekowski also appears as a chamber pianist in a piano duo, the Genesius Duo, with Stephanie Kwan. Together, they usually perform twentieth-century compositions. Their next concert scheduled for November in Edmonton will feature premiere arrangements for two pianos of instrumental works, such as Tragic Overture by Andrzej Panufnik, Symphony of Sorrowful Songs by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Památník Lidicím by Bohuslav Martinů.

Krystian Sekowski has received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta in Canada, where he studied solo piano with professors Patricia Tao and Janet Scott-Hoyt. He has also attended master courses at the Centre for Opera Studies (COSI) in Abruzzo, Italy and the Franz Schubert Institut in Austria. He has had an opportunity to work with such artists as Julius Drake, Helmut Deutsch, Rudolph Jansen, Elly Ameling, Andreas Schmidt, Robert Holl, Armin Zanner and Michael McMahon. In 2017, he attended the Sacred Music Symposium in Los Angeles, where, as a choirmaster and a conductor, he perfected his skills with Dr Horst Buchholz, Dr Alfred Calabrese and Dr Lucas Tappan.

At present, the artist is studying for his Master’s diploma in solo piano and chamber piano music at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz under the guidance of professors Jarosław Drzewiecki, Jerzy Sulikowski, Mariusz Klimsiak, Michał Szymanowski and Bartłomiej Wezner
