Pianist and one of the most distinguished teachers of piano. He is regularly invited to sit on the juries of the biggest music competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and such international piano competitions as the Van Cliburn Competition in Fort Worth, the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bolzano and the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw. At the latter, he has been a frequent juror and the chairman of the jury in 2000 and 2005.
In 1979 – 1982, Jasiński lectured at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, and he has been a professor of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice since 1962. He has also conducted master classes throughout Europe, e.g. at Incontri col Maestro in Imola, Italy, as well as in Stuttgart, Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Amsterdam, Bilbao, Linz, Graz, Vienna, Château de La Hulpe, Fribourg, Trecastagni, Fermo, Majorca, at the annual Summer Music Academy ‘Mozarteum’ in Salzburg (for the last twenty years) and on other continents: in Japan, South America (Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina), South Africa, in the United States of North America at the Van Cliburn Institute, in Taiwan and the Middle East (Israel). He has educated numerous concert pianists, including Krystian Zimerman, Joanna Domańska, Jerzy Sterczyński, Krzysztof Jabłoński, Magdalena Lisak, Zbigniew Raubo, Rafał Łuszczewski, Beata Bilińska and Stanisław Drzewiecki.
Professor Jasiński is the originator and artistic director of the Silesian Piano Competition (Śląski Konkurs Pianistyczny) for the students of secondary schools of music, held in Zabrze. For many years, he has been a member of the board of the Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw. Between 2005 and 2014, he was also a member of the Programme Board of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.
Andrzej Jasiński has graduated with distinction from the State College of Music (PWSM) in Katowice, where he studied with Prof. Władysława Markiewiczówna and he has been a student of Prof. Magda Tagliaferro in Paris. In 1960, he won the Grand Prix of the Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona. In the following year, he appeared with the RAI Orchestra in Turin directed by Carlo Zecchi. Since that time, he has performed in concert in most European countries, as well as in Uruguay, Brazil, the United States and Japan. He has played in a duo with pianist Józef Stompel and the wind quintet of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR). The artist has made a number of archival recordings for Polish Radio with the Polish Radio Orchestra (Polska Orkiestra Radiowa) in Warsaw and with the Grand Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio and Television (WOSPRiT) in Katowice.
In recognition of his artistic and educational accomplishments, Andrzej Jasiński has been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis, the Commission of National Education Medal, the Silver Nike Award in ‘Education’ from the Competition Jury of the Allianz Awards (in 2003) and the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He has also received the local Silesian Juliusz Ligoń and Karol Miarka awards. The pianist holds honorary degrees from the Mykola Lysenko National Academy of Music in Lviv (2015), the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (2007) and the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (2006).
