Honourable mention – 1,500 euros Apeiron Trio Piotr Kosarga – violin Jan Czaja – cello Hanna Lizinkiewicz – piano The trio is made up of graduates and teachers of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, an institution which makes great efforts in promoting Polish music, including contemporary music. Jan Czaja got his Master’s degree from the Universität der Künste in Berlin, where he studied with Markus Nyikos, and a Bachelor’s degree after his studies with Stanisław Firlej, Marcin Misiak and Krzysztof Karpeta at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. Piotr Kosarga has completed the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, where he was taught by Marcin Baranowski. Studies at the same academy have also been completed (with distinction) by Hanna Lizinkiewicz, who was a student of Andrzej Tatarski there before enrolling at Lund University, Sweden to do a postgraduate course with Hans Pållson. She has also obtained a doctoral degree from her alma mater. The musicians have performed solo and in an ensemble at the Musical Spring (a contemporary music festival) in Poznań, the International Chamber Music Festival ‘Q’arto Mondi’ in Poznań, the Amber & Silk Festival in Silesia, the Edinburgh International Festival, the Baltic Sea Festival in Berwaldhallen and the Aurora Chamber Music Festival (both of them held in Sweden), as well as at Cremona Pianoforte. Their repertoire has included premiere performances of works by such composers as Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, Agnieszka Zdrojek-Suchodolska, Piotr Pawlik and Monika Kędziora.
