Preliminary round for the Polish candidates

We are pleased to inform you that the preliminary round of the Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music in Rzeszów will be held in Warsaw on 21 May 2019. The preliminary round is intended for persons holding Polish citizenship, regardless of their place of residence.

The Qualification Committee will select up to ten qualifiers in each category – 10 pianists and 10 chamber ensembles. The qualifiers of the preliminary round are exempted from the entry fee and are further awarded a scholarship sufficient to cover travel and accommodation costs incurred during the course of the Competition.

The candidates from Category I (pianists) taking part in the preliminary round are required to perform the entire programme of Stage I, pursuant to Annex 1A (attached to the Rulebook), not exceeding 20 minutes of musical presentation. The candidates from Category II (chamber ensembles) are required to perform the programme of Stage I, specified in Annex 2B (attached to the Rulebook), not exceeding 20 minutes of musical presentation; performance of individual movements will be accepted.

The application shall contain:

  1. Personal data of the pianists or all the members of the chamber ensemble (plus the name of the ensemble, if applicable)
  2. Contact information – e-mail address and phone number (for chamber ensembles: contact information of a representative of the ensemble)
  3. The entire programme of the musical presentation, including the length of the works (as well as the numbers or titles of individual movements performed by chamber ensembles)

Please be reminded that the Rules and Regulations do not provide for age restrictions of the participants. Therefore, if the participants are younger than 18 years of age, they should be represented by their parents or guardians. The underage participants are also requested to provide, during the preliminary round, the appropriate written consent allowing them to take part in the preliminary round and in the further stages of the Competition.

The preliminary round is not mandatory. The Polish pianists and ensembles may also submit their applications according to the procedures stipulated in sections 10-13 of the Rulebook. The same procedure applies to the candidates who will fail to qualify through the preliminary round.

The auditions shall not be open to the public. The travel and accommodation costs incurred in relation to the preliminary round (held in Warsaw) shall not be reimbursed.

The order of the auditions and the venue where they will take place will be announced at a later date.

The personal data provided in the application documents for the preliminary round shall be subject to the provisions stipulated in sections 41–44 of the Rulebook.
