Katarzyna Bąkowska – violin

Katarzyna Nowaczewska-Manthey – piano

The duo was formed in 2012. Their repertoire is largely comprised of Polish music, especially works written in the twentieth century. The artists have graduated from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where they studied with Henryk Keszkowski and Jarosław Drzewiecki respectively. They went on to further their soloistic and chamber music skills under a host of eminent teachers. Katarzyna Bąkowska have studied with Henryk Kowalski, Franco Gulli and Maja Nosowska, and Katarzyna Nowaczewska-Manthey with Tatiana Shebanova, Aleksiej Orłowiecki, Andrzej Bauer, Jadwiga Kaliszewska, Jerzy Marchwiński and Waldemar Malicki.

The artists have appeared in concert at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, the Warszawskie Towarzystwo Muzyczne (Warsaw Musical Society), Radziejowice Palace and Lubostroń Palace. In 2013, they received the Grand Prix at the International Master Competition for Music Teachers in Warsaw in the chamber music category. In addition, they were awarded the First Prize in the solo category and special prizes for the most interesting interpretation of music written by a Polish composer. They also work as teachers at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, as well as at schools of music in the cities of Warsaw and Bydgoszcz.
