Barbara Mglej – violin Martyna Zakrzewska – piano The artists started their cooperation in 2013, when they qualified for the project called the European Workshop for Contemporary Music, which took them to a concert in Cologne during the Forty-Seventh Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik. Barbara Mglej has graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Kraków, where she studied with Kaja Danczowska. Martyna Zakrzewska has graduated from the same academy, where she was a student of Mariusz Sielski and Milena Kędra. Since 2014, the artists have played together in the Spółdzielnia Muzyczna (Music Co-operative) contemporary ensemble, which, as the name suggests, specialises in the performance of contemporary music. Spółdzielnia has taken part in numerous premiere performances of Polish works and it is still actively involved in collaborating with Polish composers. Since 2017, the Zakrzewska/Mglej Duo have performed at such events as the Festiwal Siedmiu Nurtów and have given a recital in Klagenfurt, Austria. While their interests are centred on the twentieth- and twenty-first-century music, they often perform Classical and Romantic repertoires as well.
