He is a graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (a student of Zbigniew Raub) and a prize winner at numerous piano and chamber music competitions, including the National Fryderyk Chopin Competition (the Fifth Prize in 2013 and the Second Prize in 2017), the Forum Per Tasti (the First Prize in 2018), the Friuli Venezia Giulia (the First Prize in 2018) and the Karol Szymanowski Competition in Katowice (the First Prize and a special prize for the best performance of a work by Szymanowski in 2018). In 2015, he qualified for the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and he reached the semi-finals of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski International Piano Competition in the following year.

Tymoteusz Bies has appeared as a pianist alongside a number of orchestras, such as the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR). He has taken part in master classes led by such eminent musical personalities as Andrzej Jasiński, Kevin Kenner, Tobias Koch, Janusz Olejniczak, Piotr Paleczny and Dang Thai Son. He has appeared in concert both in Poland (e.g. at the seat of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice and at the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw) and abroad (in Saint Petersburg, Paris, Cologne, Rome, Hanover and Venice), as well as at the Chopin Festivals in Duszniki-Zdrój and Warsaw (‘Chopin and His Europe’). He has been a recipient of the Młoda Polska (Young Poland) Scholarship, the Krystian Zimerman Scholarship and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship. Last year he released his debut album featuring piano concertos by Mozart and Chopin.
